Brian John is a geologist, geomorphologist, and writer known for his advocacy of the glacial transport theory regarding Stonehenge’s bluestones. Born in Wales, he studied at Oxford University, earning degrees in geography and later specialising in glacial and Quaternary geomorphology. His research focuses on Ice Age processes and their impact on landscapes. John has published extensively on geomorphology, including the theory that glaciers, not humans, transported the bluestones from the Preseli Hills to Salisbury Plain. He is also a prolific author of scientific and popular works, including books on Welsh landscapes, archaeology, and environmental science.
