Meredith Hopwood

An Evening of Words and Music starting with a talk given by the gifted and inspiring poet Mererid Hopwood on the theme of the Turning of the Year. This will be followed by a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (originally programmed to poetry), arranged and performed by the Gwaun Trio, interspersed with Mererid’s poems ‘The Seasons’.

Noson o eiriau a cherddoriaeth yn dechrau gyda sgwrs gan y bardd hynod dalentog ac ysbrydoledig Mererid Hopwood ar thema Troad y Flwyddyn. Nesaf bydd yna berfformiad o ddarn ‘Four Seasons’ gan Vivaldi, yn wreiddiol wedi eu trefnu i farddoniaeth. Trefnwyd a pherfformiwyd y darn gan Driawd Gwaun, gyda chyfres o gerddi ‘The Seasons’ Mererid wedi gweu i mewn i’r darn.

Gwaun Trio       Triawd Gwaun

Fe ddaeth tri o gerddorion clasurol orau Sir Benfro, sef Nia Harries (sielo), Lorna Osbon (ffidil) a Matthew Bale (piano) at ei gilydd fel ‘swigen’ yn ystod y cyfnod clo. Wnaethant eu perfformiad cyntaf yn Rhosygilwen yn Rhagfyr 2020 I ddathlu pen-blwydd Beethoven yn 250 mlwydd oed.

Three of Pembrokeshire’s finest classical musicians, Nia Harries (cello), Lorna Osbon (violin), and Matthew Bale(piano), came together as a ‘bubble’ during lockdown. Their first performance was given at Rhosygilwen in December 2020 to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary.

Mae Nia, Lorna a Matthew yn gwerthfawrogi eu cysylltiad gyda phrosiectau celfyddydol lleol; maent wedi perfformio yn ŵyl On Lands Edge yn Theatr Gwaun ac wedi gwneud cyngerdd elusennol ar gyfer apêl Wcráin. Codwyd dros £2000.

Cafodd Nia eu magu yn Sir Benfro, tra gwnaeth Matthew a Lorna syrthio mewn cariad gyda’r ardal ar ôl gwario eu mis mêl yn Cnapan yn 1985. Symudodd y ddau i Abergwaun yn barhaol yn 2020.

Mae’r triawd yn ystyried eu hunain i fod yn ffodus eu bod wedi dod o hyd i’w gilydd – un peth da i ddod o’r cyfnod clo!

Nia, Lorna and Matthew value their close connection with local artistic projects, performing for the ‘On Land’s Edge’ Festival at Theatr Gwaun, and a fundraising concert for the Ukraine Appeal, which raised over £2000.

Nia was born and brought up in Pembrokeshire, and Matthew & Lorna fell in love with the area after spending their honeymoon at Cnapan in 1985, moving permanently to Abergwaun in 2020. Members of Gwaun Trio consider themselves very fortunate to have found each other; one of the good things to come out of lockdown!

The event is finished.
