Ceredigion resident Adam Gilbert has delighted audiences all over the world with his powerful and emotional singing and is pleasedto be returning to Rhosygilwen in 2026.
Adam Gilbert was an Associate Artist with the Welsh National Opera for the 2022/23 season. After 10 years as a baritone, working with leading opera companies in the UK and abroad, Adam transitioned into the tenor repertoire. He has performed many leading roles with WNO including making his debut as a tenor Associate Artist with WNO in the roles of Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, Steva in Jenufa and Alfredo in La Traviata. Other notable performances include Passenger/High Oracle and cover Adnan/Zayed in Mohammed Fairouz’s newly commissioned opera Al Wasl in Dubai.
Recent highlights include his role debut as Alfredo (La Traviata), his role debut as Rodolfo (La Bohème) with Opera Holland Park and performing Father in Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
Other engagements last season included cover Rodolfo (La Bohème) for English National Opera and cover Marc in The Wreckers for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, where he stepped in for one performance after being helicoptered in at the last moment!
Upcoming highlights include reprising the role of Emlyn in Blaze of Glory by David Hackbridge Johnson, cover Erik in The Flying Dutchman, and a concert tour, A Night at the Opera, all with Welsh National Opera
Adam will be accompanied by Henry Ward on piano.
