La Traviata is a tragic opera by Giuseppe Verdi that explores love, sacrifice, and social hypocrisy in 19th-century Paris. The story centers on Violetta Valéry ( Catrin Aur), a glamorous courtesan suffering from tuberculosis, who falls deeply in love with the young nobleman Alfredo Germont. Inspired by genuine affection, Violetta abandons her lavish lifestyle to live quietly with Alfredo(Adam Gilbert). Their happiness is shattered when Alfredo’s father, Giorgio Germont, pressures Violetta to leave his son to protect the family’s social reputation. She agrees, sacrificing her love without revealing the truth. Believing himself betrayed, Alfredo publicly humiliates Violetta, only later learning of her selfless act. As Violetta’s illness worsens, Alfredo returns repentant, but reconciliation comes too late. She dies in his arms, redeemed by love yet destroyed by society’s moral constraints. The opera remains powerful for its emotional realism and intimate portrayal of human vulnerability.
