Three imminent speakers provide their view of Who Speaks For Wales.
A panel of well known speakers who include Geraint Talfan Davies, Catrin Miles and John T (Cwmbetws) Davies give their views on the voices being heard on behalf of Wales, led by Dr. Glen Peters. The initial idea was put forward by Raymond Williams in 2003 on culture and identity. In 2017 the actor Michael Sheen gave a memorable lecture on topic.
Geraint Talfan Davies OBE DL was the chairman of Welsh National Opera. He graduated from Oxford University in 1966 with a degree in Modern History. He spent over thirty years in the newspaper and broadcasting industries and was the controller of BBC Wales from 1990 to 2000.
Catrin Miles was once Mayor of Cardigan. Experienced Councillor, elected May 2008 and, since May 2017, Cabinet (Executive) member holding Education portfolio. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Politics, Policy Analysis, Government, and Event Management. Strong business development professional with a B. Soc. Science focused in International Studies from The University of Birmingham.
John (Cwmbetws) Davies was Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council from 2004 until his retirement in 2012, has over the years been involved with the media in Wales having been a S4C presenter in the early years of the channel and is currently a regular contributor to current affairs programmes both on Television and Radio. From 2008 till May 2012 he was the Principal Leader of the Welsh Local Government Association. He was a member of Dyfed – Powys Police Authority and Chairman of its Finance Committee for 9 years.
