The John S Davies Singers present an evening of Italian Songs which include,
- Three Songs for female voices and piano by Rossini. La Fede, La Speranza and La Carita. La Speranza was performed by the female section of the John S Davies Singers in the Schubertiade at Rhosygilwen in 2013. This has become a favourite and can be viewed on Youtube.
- Sacred Italian choral pieces will include Sicut cervus – Palestrina, Ave Verum Corpus – Corelli, O Salutaris Hostia – Rossini and Beatus Vir by Vivaldi.
- Also included will be Albinoni’s famous Oboe Concerto in D Minor op 9 no2 featuring oboist Catherine Tanner Williams.
- No Italian evening would be complete without some famous opera choruses such as Speed Your Journey from Nabucco, Anvil chorus from Il Travatore and the Soldiers chorus for male section.
PLUS a fabulous home made Pasta Linguine and Tiramisu. (Bookings for food essential. Served at 6.15 pm before the concert.)
Cantorion John S Davies Singers
Cantorion John S Davies Singers, a leading chamber choir, have regularly appeared throughout Wales, including festivals in Greynog, Llandeilo, Milford Haven, Fishguard and on numerous occasions at St Davids Cathedral. There have been concerts in the Ludlow Festival, Bath Abbey and Margam Abbey as well as Cardiff, London and Rome. Several radio and television broadcasts include the premiѐre of Hoddinott’s Mass at Llandaff Cathedral shown on S4C.
The Singers comprise soloists in their own right, music college students, cathedral choristers and professionally working musicians many of whom return to Wales to sing with their director, John S. Davies. They are delighted to be invited for the second time to perform with the stunning acoustic at Rhosygilwen Hall for an evening of Italian music.
