Amnesty International Benefit
Saturday, November 16
7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
An action packed evening of wall to wall music, song and dance! Sing along with some of the cast of our fabulous summer production West Side Story; be entertained by our MC singing and playing his celtic bouzouki, and back by popular demand to get your feet tapping and up onto the dance floor will be the amazing Hornettes , with their sequins, comedy and beehive wigs, to take you back in time as they sing hit after hit from the Motown era, 60s Girl groups and beyond. Stay on your feet and finish the night dancing TO Lundy. LUNDY are a new locally based band, performing compelling and inventive original material. Beautiful melodies are balanced with tight rhythms and dark undertones, off-centre but on target! The lyrics are curious and evocative with familiar themes seen from fresh angles. Punchy, poetic and energetic, the band members are: Richard Turner, keyboards, vocals and songwriter; Will Cobbett, guitar, bass and vocals; Kev Griffiths, guitar, bass and vocal; Gurney Peterson, drums and sound re-enforcement. Although this is a new project the various members are well known on the West Wales music scene.
We’re pleased to have Mererid Hopwood, the first woman to win the bardic chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, to introduce the evening. Bar will be open, with light refreshments, raffle, with lots of exciting prizes, and an opportunity to make cards and sign letters as usual in the foyer.
Tickets in advance from Rhos-y-Gilwen £12 (Book now on line!) or £15 on the door. There will also be a special prize for the winning ticket!
